Iron Chef - Daniel Steinger

"About 28 years ago, Daniel Steinger left his home in Switzerland to visit the land Down Under....Daniel Steinger has been the head chef of Toowong's Mariosarti Restaurant, for almost 10 years. ... Daniel learnt the tricks of the trade back home where he worked in a number of French and Italian restaurants. After 30 years as a chef, Mr Steinger said he still loved what he did. He first entered the industry because of his love for cooking."

"The trick to dining out successfully with children is to minimize the hassles for them, so let.s forget the tablecloth, the restrained ambience and the fancy menu. And the secret to having a good time yourself is not having to compromise on the food or the service. Where better to give the theory a chance than at a trusty Italian Restaurant? After all, when visiting Italy you actually do better if you have young children with you, so much do the Italians adore bambini. At friendly Mariosarti guests experience professional Italian hospitality from owner John Sadleir. Children love their pasta, and there's plenty to choose from here, including all the expected favourites in children's servings. Grown-ups will enjoy the chicken and ricotta cappelletti with Gorgonzola sauce, or squid-ink spaghetti with whiting fillets, quail in Borolo, or any of the traditional veal dishes. Call ahead for a table on the terrace."

"This Toowong favourite is celebrating its first decade with a major refurbishment, which owner John Sadleir promises will create a contemporary and comfortable environment. An extensive specials board augments the a la carte menu, and the focus is still on fresh produce and Italian cuisine. Most of the wines are available by the glass."
